“Learning How To Count”

“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.” -Paul

Chapter Eight looks at the first 11 verses of Philippians 3; however, we must first hear the full chapter before digging into the details:

Wiersbe offers us this outline:

Verses 1-11
Paul’s past
The accountant
“I count”
New values

Verses 12-16
Paul’s present
The athlete
“I press”
New vigor

Verses 17-21
Paul’s future
The alien
“I look”
New vision

We have delved deeply into the single mind and the submissive mind. Next, we shall learn more about the spiritual mind.

We are citizens of heaven. When we view things from that perspective, we will see and experience life differently from the perspective of those who either belong to the earth or believers who primarily focus on “minding earthly things.”

  • What are the things Paul now considers worth living for?

  • What are the two kinds of righteousness Paul examines?

  • What are some of the things that can steal our joy?

  • Why is sincerity not enough for salvation?
