Let No Debt

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Romans 13:8-10

Reflection

  • Is it alright to ration love to other people? Why or why not?
  • Does God ration His love to us? Why or why not?
  • In what ways do people use love as a weapon?
  • In what ways does God use love as a weapon?
  • If we are to follow God’s example of love, what qualifications are we to place on others before loving our neighbor?
  • Based on the passage above, when can we check love off our to do list?
  • In light of God’s love for people, how can we interact with others today?
